I'll be blunt. The major parties will do everything to rig the game to keep it closed to people like me. That should frighten the bejesus out of you. It frightens me. You see what they do when they're allowed to get away with it. But real people aren't going to get elected if you leave it up to chance, or leave it up to someone else to do somethjing about it. So if you want the majors having absolute control, do nothing and you'll get it. If you want actual human beings keeping them in line, you need to help make it possible for regular people to compete. And that costs money. It's not coming from lottery tickets, I'll tell you that much

Hey mate!

It's Troy here...

I used to be a major party voter. Then I’d wonder why nothing changed.

Not anymore. I’ve seen both parties get power and abuse it. You need checks, you need balances.

You need people who are able to stand up to either side and say, ‘that’s not good enough’.

That’s what I want to be.

people have signed up to help me.

Those are three words I believe in!

That's why I want to be your MP for Lyons

It’s not about blocking, it’s about building. As a small business owner, I know how hard it is to get a dream off the ground and I know how hard government can make it to earn an honest crust.

I’m an average bloke who wants to do right by his family, his community and his state. I’m sick of looking at a ballot paper every election and having to hold my nose. I don’t want to whinge about how bad politicians are. I want to do something about it, and be a decent one.

You don’t owe me your vote. You don’t owe anyone your vote. I want to earn it, like I’ve had to earn everything in my life. I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Why I’m running

A big help for small business

Businesses are being slugged with thousands of pages of regulations before they even get off the ground. Small businesses take risk, create jobs, build something from nothing. Let’s back them, instead of getting in their way.

Home ownership shouldn’t just be for millionaires

When I bought my first house I was a third-year apprentice mechanic. You can’t do that these days. I want my three kids to be able to buy a home one day, just like I did. And that dream is slipping away.

You shouldn’t need to wait half a day in the emergency department

The Liberals and Labor Party blame each other for why our hospitals are bursting at the seams, but they’re both to blame for the mess we’re in. I’m sick of finger pointing. It’s time we got in and fixed things.

Tax regular workers for regular work

I have no problem paying penalty rates – they’re there for good reason. But if you work extra hours and get penalty rates, you get taxed like nothing else. You’re giving up your Sunday, and you’re giving up 30% of the money you earn for it. That should be yours.

A WORD FROM JACQUI

Troy’s a good bloke.

Lyons deserves an MP like Troy

He hasn’t spent his life trying to figure out how to become a politician.

He’s lived his life as an honest, hardworking family man, starting a business and being a man of his word.

That’s the kind of guy I like: the kind who says what he does, and does it.

Lyons deserves an MP like Troy. He’s the sort of guy who turns up when you need him, and doesn’t leave until the job is done. That’s the kind of person you want in your corner when your back’s against the wall.

He’s not running to make himself look good. He wants to do good things for Lyons. That’s about the best reason I can think of for why anyone should be involved in politics.

And he’s got the record to show he can do it. He’s built himself up from pretty humble beginnings, and turned himself into a success. He volunteers, he creates jobs for Tasmanians, he raises a family and he cares about making Lyons the best place it can be.

I couldn’t be more proud to have Troy on my team. He’d make a fantastic MP. I hope you’ll give him a chance to prove it.
